Things being as they are

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Hello.  He is a short list of things as they are:

  • We have now booked five shows in Japan this October, with perhaps a couple more to come.  Details soon.
  • Brain Cobra and Flying Diamonds are currently mixing our next single, due out in a few weeks, in Sydney.  We’ll be playing shows in Sydney (Spectrum, October 13) and Melbourne (Workers Club, Oct 29) to launch it.

The end.  Told you it was short!  Did I mention that we’ve got Twitter?  It’s sort of like this blog, except we offer you medical solutions to erectile dysfunction less often (but not never).

no no. no no no no. no no no no. no no there’s no limits.

or so i’m told.

on a non ramps related note, i made a music video for pikelet. it was filmed in the pacific somewhere, and we gave the camera acid. here ’tis.

we’re playing with crayon fields at their ‘welcome back from the US!!’ show at the Northcote Social Slub on April 24. we haven’t played in ages, so it’ll be rusty.

Our song ‘antique limb’ is in the running for the jjj hottest 100. i’m not sure what happens if it makes it in, maybe we win a fancy car or something.

So you can go vote for it here, if you’re one of those people who votes for things.

Also, we made an EP that you can get on iTunes right here. Kinda forgot to tell anyone about this, y’know how it is.

It features our song ‘destroy the universe with jazz hands’ from the midnight believer album, plus a remix by our pal slo-mo speedboat, an 8-bit re-imagining of ‘antique limb’ by neutro & lone zero and a cover we did of leonard cohen’s ‘don’t go home with your hard on’.

Hey, boring internet.  We have a show on Saturday.  Halloween, so get scary!

pooOOOOooosterrrrrr

Thanks heaps to Darren, Leigh, Anne, Sarah, Hannah, Tom, Lou, Tutts, Cam, Katie, Greg and all others who accommodated us in Sydney and Brisbane, tolerated our middle-of-the-night spider hunts, witnessed police brutality with us and so much more!

Conversations with beef

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

We played at Oxford Art Factory in Sydney last night. It was okay. The security wouldn’t let people in so not many got to see us play. Best things about the night were Megastick Fanfare and Annehelena’s 20th birthday.

Today, we’re in Brisbane, getting ready to play at the Valley Fiesta tonight. We have spent most of the day freaking out in a mad hurry, toasting in the sun, designing posters and writing stuff and busting deadlines. A bit stressful. Preparing for our single launch next week, you see. Saturday - Halloween - night in Melbourne.

Anyway. There’s no daylight savings here. I’m typing on my phone. Very sleepy. Missing home. More later, I say.

R.I.P Patrick Swayze and Banjo

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

As of now, the banjo isn’t part of the ramps set up anymore. It’s been replaced by a homemade gaffa-tape-beast of an instrument that is unruly and unpredictable.

Just occurred to me that the only Patrick Swazye films I’ve seen are Donnie Darko and The Outsiders. Yep that’s right, never seen Dirty Dancing, Point Break or Ghost.

The cast for The Outsiders is fucken nuts, Patrick Swayze, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Rob Low and Emilio Estevez all pre-stardom and pimply and awkward. Oh and Ralph Macchio too.

Plus Tom Waits. And Sofia Coppola.

Yikes.

Donnie Darko was, in my opinion, a big stinking pile of wank with a petite little turd perched on top.

Speaking of movies, finally got around to seeing The Conformist the other night. Fucken aaaaaace.
